Although he was born in Spain bandleader Xavier Cugat always be remembered as the man who really introduced Latin rhythms to to American Grand Hotels and Dance Clubs. One of his trademark gestures was to hold a chihuahua while he waved his baton with the other arm the other one was his famous "Cugat Moustache" which gave him the reputation of being a "womanizer". In fact Cugat was married five times. 11 years after his death at the age of 90 years in 1990 Cugat was posthumously inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2001. Cuba! Conga!
