Growing up in New Orleans, music has been a big part of my life. Once, when I was a baby, I would not stop crying, so my dad took me for a drive to quiet me. After driving around unsuccessfully for about an hour, he stopped in front of Tipitinas, a great music club in New Orleans. Suddenly, the car went silent. Thinking that I was asleep, my dad looked back to where I was sitting to see that I was not asleep, but looking outside the open window quietly listening to the music. From then on, my parents knew that I was destined for a life of music. When I was 5 years old, I started playing the piano by ear. I picked up the guitar when I was ten. After one year of guitar lessons, my guitar teacher said he needed to find a more accomplished guitarist to handle my lessons. I then joined the Heritage School of Music, where I started playing at Jazz Fest, Gumbo Fest and French Quarter fest. Throughout my life, I've been influenced by too many artists and genres of music to count, including Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Kendrick Lamar and Django Reinhardt. J Wolf is a new me. I am putting all of my love for different genres, such as hip-hop, jazz, blues and rock into pieces of music that everyone can enjoy.
