The five contemporary worship leaders of Second Baptist Church are featured on this album. The goal of this project, beyond creating new Christmas music for our worship services, was to allow congregants from each campus to gain greater awareness of the ministry happening in other areas of the church, unifying us as "One church in five locations." "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" features worship leader Brett Hystad, who leads the 9:30 service at the West Campus in Katy, TX. Energetic and powerful, this track contains new lyrics that celebrate the joy of Jesus' birth with those from any stage of life. "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" features worship leader Joey Witham, from the North Campus in Kingwood, TX. With a clever twist, this song incorporates the chorus from another well-known Christmas carol, along with a passionate "spoken word" piece performed by church member, Sherrella Rollins. "O Come Emanuel" features worship leader Tyler Newberry, and his wife Leslianne, from the South Campus in Pearland, TX. Bluesy guitar hooks create a fun vibe for this classic song. "Infant Holy" features worship leader Joel Snow, from the Cypress Campus, in Cypress, TX. Simple and sweet, this lesser-known carol includes children and adult choirs combined from several different campuses of Second. "I Heard the Bells" features worship leader Brian Long, who leads worship for the 11:11 Service at the Woodway Campus in Houston, TX. A new take on a classic carol, this song includes a worshipful chorus and bridge that celebrate the peace and hope that came with the birth of our Savior. People who attend our church come from all different experiences and backgrounds. Some come from Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist and other churches. Others come with no church or religious background at all. Suddenly, they find themselves at a Baptist church. What does that mean? Many have identified the Baptist church by its common stereotypes, but we can assure you that the Second family is not your stereotypical church. We are unique. We believe church should be fun and exciting, yet without compromising the truth of God’s Word, the Bible.
