As Currents Carry was written over a year's time. We were in and out of the studio on a monthly basis, and out playing shows as well as helping lead worship at our home church and other ministries. Our bassist, David, didn't join the band until right after the release of our first single, "Traction," in March of 2013. That was also the marker of him first picking up and starting to learn bass. We had numerous opportunities that seemed unreal; an example being the Sonshine and Lifelight festivals. In the late summer of 2013, Matt left the band as our drummer. Collin filled in on "Kill It Whole," "Born With Lock and Key," and "Trenches" for drums and during the winter of 2013/2014, the band went on a miniature hiatus to finish up the album and begin on some new music. One of the most interesting facts about this record is that on the final track, "Anchored," which was actually the first song ever written by the band, God prophesied through Collin and Matt in the lyrical writing. The second verse specifically describes a key turning point in Matt's life. God truly and mightily showcased His power throughout the year of writing and performing this record. The band has always made it a point to keep in prayer and seek guidance from God in songwriting, live shows, and anything else done together. It's a miracle that this band started up, let alone continued even after finishing this record. A high school rock band combined with a deep faith in God is going to continue and also grow up in faith, life, and music. We are relieved to have finally finished this project and we are excited to see what else comes along.
