Satoshi Takeishi - percussion and electronics “Dim Sum” is Min Xiao-Fen's first new release in six years - thanks to a generous grant from the Peter S. Reed Foundation. The acclaimed Chinese pipa soloist/vocalist/composer and downtown percussionist Satoshi Takeishi present a full-length version of the Min’s latest work – premiered December 15, 2012 at John Zorn’s The Stone in New York City. Inspired by everyday sounds that she heard growing up as a child in Nanjing, Min describes “Dim Sum” as “six musical dishes meant to touch the heart.” The disc also features four new solo compositions: “Like a Flower,” “Blue Pipa,” “Tan Tan, Chang Chang” and “ABC” (American Born Chinese). In addition to pipa, Min performs on finger piano, sanxian, Nanying pipa, toy pipa and electronics.
