With “Monkey D**e Remix” you may not quite get what you expect. Because “Monkey D**e Remixed” ain’t your usual “Let’s just add a beat” sort of remix compilation. In other words, it’s more than old wine in new bottles. This album is what happens if you give carte blanche to upright musicians ready to create something of their own with fragments and structures of songs by the illeist collective. The musical results are as various as the artists involved and thoughtfully staged on a specifically designed website.

The compilation combines twelve international musicians and a variety of styles. From new wave to rock, from folk to 8-bit music and from electro to experimental. Domi Chansorn, Dan Curtin, Nick Porsche and Multisonic are only some of the gifted artists to be part of this collaboration extraordinaire. It’s a celebration of uncompromising musicians unwilling to settle for anything less than what they artistically envision. In other words, it ain’t the Monkey D**e it used to be no more, but it sure is Monkey D**e still.
