After a year of unforeseen successes and crossover hits landing atop radio charts worldwide and topping Itunes overall Top 100 in several European markets in 2013, Stranjjur NYC is moving back to it's underground house music roots in 2014. To start this new year, we bring forth our first release, crafted by Moodmusic's boss, the one and only SASSE. With the Long Nights EP he represents his Freestlye Man moniker; an alias with which his output has also achieved a great deal of success, most recently with My Favorite Robot Records. For any of you who are not familiar with Sasse; you can be prepared to be served up 3 original slices of Prime-cut 90's influenced Deep House; each showing a fine marbling of class and sophistication that everyone in the industry has come to know and love Sasse for providing for so many years. Stranjjur founder and co-owner Kev Obrien adds quite an epic journey to the EP - in a literal sense - with his aplty titled "Emergency Room Revisit" mix of "Long Nights". It is strongly believed that this single remix may officially be the only one in history to ever cause physical injury to the remixer, so much so that it required Obrien a painful trip to the local Hospital Emergency Room last winter to treat. After a nonstop 12-14 hours session of work on the remix, Obrien, unable to stand up and in excruciating pain required a trip to the Hospital. After being released from care with what Doctor's diagnosed as a 'strained hip' due to remaining in one sitting position for 13 consecutive house while working on his remix; Obrien returned and allowed the cocktail of Vicodin and inspiration to complete his progressively chugging remix that moves along for a full 11 + mins, featuring some unexpected twists and turns along the way. This one is certainly "one for the heads". While the Stranjjur team was residing over in Berlin this past summer, a mixdown session of Kev's remix inspired an additional version of the remix, which provides us with a more floor-focused dub version from Sasse and Kev as well. Last but clearly by no means least is the moving and grooving, Bristol-inspired reworking of "Long Nights" which was commissioned to the super-talented London based studio-wiz, known simply as BAUNZ. He first caught our attention in 2012 with an EP on More Music which included remixes by two of that year's breakout artists, in Huxley and Ejeca - but for we here at Stranjjur, the true magic was in the amazing original mixes which predictably got overshadowed by the hype cloud surrounding the remixers. From that summer, the manhunt for this mystery man was underway, and despite a long mission. he was finally tracked down. Stranjjur A&R detectives managed to nab him earlier this year and as a result he makes his debut on the label now, which serves as a perfect segway to lead up to his first EP with us, which is due out this winter.
