简介
(With apologies to Karl Marx) A spectre is haunting the music scene — the spectre of the Rhythm and Blues Conspiracy. All the powers of the old scene have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: synthpop and rap, Cyrus and Perry, Harlem Shakers and Doughiers. Where is the group in opposition that has not been decried as conspiratorial by its opponents in popularity? Where is the opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of being conspiratorial, against the more popular over-produced artists, as well as against the over-obscure indie rockers? Two things result from this fact: I. The Rhythm and Blues Conspiracy is already acknowledged by all powers to be itself a rocking band. II. It is high time that the Rhythm and Blues Conspirators should openly, in the face of the whole world, publish their views, their aims, their tendencies, and meet this nursery tale of the Spectre of Conspiracy with a manifesto of the party itself. The Rhythm and Blues Conspiracy began when brothers Sam and Henry Puopolo and their good friend Kavi O’Connor pledged to band together to bring Rhythm and Blues, Mod, and classic Rock back into the mainstream. With Kavi on drums, Henry on guitar, and Sam on bass, vocals, and harmonica, they set out to take the world by storm. They have been captivating audiences ever since with the youthful exuberance they bring to all the great standards and lost classics of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. “Oh, they played all my favorites” – a geezer like your old man “The band plays music I can dance to, without any synthesized bass or growth hormone drums!” – a young upstart punk like you
