I recently found these songs in a shoebox that had been taped up and stored away in my closet for the last 20 years. After moving into a new place, they literally fell off the moving truck and into my hands. Curious what was inside, I tore off the tape and to my surprise, found a collection of TDK cassettes. But why were they sealed away and forgotten about? Did I have something to hide? From others? Or perhaps from myself? I decided to dust off an old tape recorder, and take them for a listen. And like the wheels of 'Doc Brown's' DeLorean, the rotating hubs of my tape recorder immediately brought me back in time to a humid summer day in the early 90's when I recorded this collection of deeply personal songs. I quickly remembered this time in school when I felt alone, discarded and unfit to fit in. But still, there was a yearning and longing for a greatness in my life that I believed was possible…one day. Unfortunately, not on that day. Once the recordings were complete, the weight of my own desperation got the better of me and with the security of roll of scotch tape, I sealed away my insecurity into this roll of musical tape that I hid in a box that I hoped would never be found. Fast forward 20+ years and suddenly, fate brings these songs back into my life. Now with a wife, three kids and a full life lived with many lows and highs, I quickly realize that these aren't just the songs that I wrote some many years ago, but they are in fact the songs that wrote me.
