Square Circle started in San Diego, California in 1999 as a collaboration between a British drummer, Hip Hop Turntableist, Funk bass player, and a computer nerd keyboardist. Their chemistry was natural and their unique sound was immediately born. Having opened up for international artists including Depeche Mode and Missing Persons, and winning San Diego Music Awards' "Best Electronic" in 2001 and 2005, Square Circle has continually produced unique and groundbreaking music which crosses between Pop, Rock, Electronic and good-old fashioned Experimental. Their first album, "Say Hello to Square Circle", was released in 2001 under the Revolt Records label (hopefully here on CD Baby soon) and made the band known as an Electronic, Hip-Hop-ish, quirky favorite among the underground scene. The album was well received, paving way to many fortunate opportunities including licensing for snowboard and skate videos, short films, and television shows. Mankind is their second release and is more moody and deeper than "Say Hello". Square Circle has fine tuned their songwriting with this album yet still maintained their underground appeal. Much of this evolution can be attributed to the band's loss of a very dear friend's daughter, who passed away at 10 years old. This is blatantly apparent in their song "Please Pray for Emily".
