Josh and Heather met at the little Methodist church in which Josh grew up. Heather joined the church 10 years prior to meeting him, as he was off at Texas Tech, and then PT School in San Antonio. They became part of the founding members of the church's contemporary Christian band, The Way, and that is how they finally met. Soon, Josh and Heather began a Tuesday Music Night, where they took a stab at writing songs together. Josh could play guitar, and had for several years, while Heather could only play a few chords on it and on piano, but she had a way with words and harmonies. Somehow, they managed to create songs together that the church congregation started requesting and began to proudly call their own. One of them, Will The Water Boil, became an anthem for the church, and later was put on a praise and worship cd that The Way recorded to benefit the church. Josh and Heather, and Heather's daughter Wallis, were made an official family when they were married in 2013. This project is the first, all original music cd they have recorded together. Wallis also sings in what Heather calls her "little girl" voice on two songs on the cd. She is a student at Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. "She has HUGE pipes for a little lady, but she graced us with her little voice this time." Josh sings, and plays all lead guitar, rhythm guitar, harmonica and even cowbell. He has a sound that is reminiscent of Jerry Jeff Walker, Hayes Carl and Robert Earl Keen. Heather sings leads and all harmony vocals. The title song, Well and Truly Blessed, came to Heather in a dream. She woke up and scrambled for a pen and scratch paper, and wrote down the first verse, "Rose, she paints the mountains, in a little backyard shed..." "Funny thing about that song is Josh was never comfortable with the bridge of the song, and his frustration use to shut down rehearsal of it. Until, one night he got it! It was a beautiful thing! And it became one of our favorite songs!" One of the songs on which Wallis sings harmony, "Shine" was a lullaby that they wrote for Wallis when Josh just started playing a sweet riff . Heather told him to keep playing and it came to life."That song has been used for Youth Sundays, Graduations, and even Christmas Eve services as it speaks blessings over children of all ages." "Fin" is a song written in the same fashion, from the perspective of the amazing giant friend that Heather found, near death from heart worms and pneumonia, by the side of a busy road. "He would be lucky to make it a few months, I was told...He lived 7 years....then on Josh's birthday, this year, he went into renal failure and died in my arms in the back of my car while Josh tried to get us to the animal hospital...We decided it had to be on the cd and that any proceeds generated from that song would go to the local animal shelter and rescue" Josh's favorite song on the album is , "It's Time". It was originally a slow, soft song written for a girl they knew that was living a life that she wasn't proud of. The morning that they were due to record it, Heather rushed in the house after having taken Wallis to school, and said, "We have to change that song! It has to rock out!" Josh cranked up the amp and just started playing a few rock riffs and Heather started trying to find the melody."Forty five minutes later we had a totally new rockin song and laid it down in the studio!" This project reflects the way Josh and Heather feel about their lives. They have felt the grace of God.. They have been committed to performing every Sunday, leading worship for God and His people. "Having strong faith doesn't mean you're righteous. Writing faith based music, doesn't mean it comes to you easily. Having Faith means that no matter what, when you look at your life, all the many incarnations of life we live in our lifetime, that you can see that He has always been there, and loved us...that we have grown, improved, failed and went on to do better.
