SONGS I GREW UP WITH I started attending church when I was two weeks old. At an early age I began to take an interest in the music of the church. We had no video projection of songs at that time but when I was seven (60 years ago) a new hymnbook was released and became a part of our worship service. Oh yes, that little red hymnbook, “Melodies of Praise”. The songs in that book made a life long impression on me. I realized that they were written out of a genuine relationship with God and they helped develop my relationship with Him as well. Those songs teach and affirm biblical truth, are a spiritual expression of our love toward God, and a testimony of His love and work in our lives. Out of the 341 songs in “Melodies of Praise” I have chosen 17 for this recording. There are many more I would like to have included, but maybe another time. My prayer is that as you listen and sing along with these great songs of faith, you experience more than a feeling of nostalgia from the past, but the present presence of God.
