The song was inspired by night flies that fly around at night and are attracted to light. I projected it onto myself as a nightfly and sang about my longing and romance for the night. I was also attracted to the part about not being able to become a butterfly, a nightfly. It is a cheer song for me, who has been thought of by those around me as a person of no importance, and that even such a useless person can fly freely in the darkness of the night.
