Soulajar is a soulful jazz/funk band originating from Bakersfield, California in 2002 and is best known for winning the 2007 "Starbucks Music Award". However, the music of Soulajar defies simple categorization. Its' players are humble young artists with diverse influences and a shared love of stretching musical boundaries. Their sound is a refreshing blend of innovative compositions; fusing elements of old school funk and soul-jazz to form an undeniably unique flavor of song craft.
