简介

From The CD Liner Notes By BC Pires.. This is proud music made by the most humble man I have ever met. Andre Tanker, an unassuming, deeply spiritual man who writes defiant, unapologetic songs, is at first glance something of a contradiction. What you might ask , other than extreme arrogance, could induce a musician to start his very own CD with a song called Creation Of The World? Why doesn't Andre Tanker know his place and sing The Creation Of Trinidad? The truth is that he does know his place, exceptionally well, as music proclaims loudly and the man proves quietly. Long before it became politically correct to accept Africa as the place where life began, andre Tanker realised that his life, and his music came from there. But Andre could look into a mirrror and see the world, and knew that his life, and his music, had also come to, and out of, Trinidad and Tobago, and New York City, and London, and Rio de Janeiro. From Creation of The World through Sayamanda and Living For Lena to Tanks for D Music( The point at which the CD was to end beforeAndre threw in the langniappe of Wild Indian Band), this is music that starts in Africa, as we all did, passes through the places that we all come from, and Meeting at The Crossroads, reaches the place we all are: Here and Now. Forward Homeand give your self some Calypso Soul Food. Listen to the call of Andre Tanker in Show Yuh Emotion and you will hear simple, pure, joyful celebration of life. Breathe deeply and bow to the ocean. There is indeed something, other than extreme arrogance, which can induce a musician to begin his first CD offering the song Creation of The World. It is Truth, and it cannot be denied. And the truth is that, though the man is humble, the music is proud, and that is how it should be: the man will die; the muaic lives. In the seventies, when several of these songs were first written, there was a concept that could unify both the man and his music without losing the essential characteristic of either: this is proud music, written by the most humble man I ever met; but both the man and the msuic are righteous.
