Andre Tanker, an unassuming, deeply spiritual man who writes defiant, unapologetic songs, is at first glance something of a contradiction. Why doesn't Andre Tanker know his place and sing The Creation Of Trinidad? The truth is that he does know his place, exceptionally well, as music proclaims loudly and the man proves quietly. Long before it became politically correct to accept Africa as the place where life began, andre Tanker realised that his life, and his music came from there. But Andre could look into a mirrror and see the world, and knew that his life, and his music, had also come to, and out of, Trinidad and Tobago, and New York City, and London, and Rio de Janeiro.
