简介

Real Name - Kwasi Prempeh Akontoh Date of Birth - 18 April 1982 Artist Name - PMac Record Label - “dpb” Records Kwasi Prempeh Akontoh A.K.A. PMac was born on 18 April 1982 in the country of Ghana. At an early age he and his family moved to South Africa where he was raised. He came to know the urban genres of music while growing up in the local township of Kanyamazane. At the age of 10 he began to have a crazy passion over the music of Michael Jackson and began learning his dance moves. Michael Jackson was PMac’s first inspiration. The one thing that seemed to move him in the songs and music videos of Michael Jackson was “Wacko Jacko’s” ability to recreate reality from human movement to human conditions. PMac saw Michael Jackson’s creative spirit as a form of interchangeability. It was when MC Hammer came out with his hit single “Can’t Touch This” that PMac began recognizing the sound of Hip Hop. Not only could M.C. Hammer move but his word play and rhyming skills seemed to bring out a unique character within music. The two components that ignited PMac’s passion for music were the dance of Michael Jackson and the words of M.C. Hammer. PMac would love to have listened to a lot more hip hop in those times (the 80’s), but due to the apartheid structure a lot of hip hop music did not flourish in South Africa especially in the local township of Kanyamazane, one had to find his way to the music. It was in the 90’s that Hip Hop music began to become a lot more accessible to the public in South Africa and PMac would listen to artists such as Ice-Cube, Gangstarr, Rakim, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Snoop Doggy Dogg and etc. He started writing rhymes at the age of 13 and learning the hip hop lingo. PMac began performing his rhymes at local gigs and people were amazed by his flow and rhyming skills. Him and a couple of friends organized a hip hop concert in their hometown and amazed the crowds. One performance that PMac clearly remembers was the performance at a beauty pageant for his high school’s Mr. and Miss Lowveld High. PMac gained his status around as being a hip hop emcee of note. Back then he was referred to as “Mac Dogg”. As much as PMac enjoyed making hip hop music he felt that there was a lot more that he needed to do and so he started learning instruments namely the piano and the guitar. This was his first initiation into becoming a producer. He began learning from friends and going out to buy music books and downloading musical chords over the internet. He further went on to explore other musical genres from new age, to classic and rock music. There were jazz groups and gatherings which he would attend in order to understand the way in which they would carry out their music. It is then he got to understand the true meaning behind improvisation and why musicians practiced what is referred to as musical scales. PMac would be playing songs from Gospel to Reggae, R&B, blues, Jazz. Once understanding the structure of music PMac began to apply his knowledge to musical programs such as Reason, Cubase as well as purchased loops and samples. He then began making beats and mixing his intellectual sound compositions. PMac then went on to study the secret of sound engineering at a place currently recognized as In House Audio where he has learnt how to carry a sound and place them into their correct frequency ranges. He is now currently promoting his current project titled, The John Doe project II – Mr. Psycho. This project is currently a road tour to be scheduled for June 2010. Be sure to look out for his availability in your town.
