简介
by John BushOne of the few recordings actually filed under Schmickler's name, Onea Gako was recorded in 1993 with C-Schulz on oboe and clarinet, Martin Kollbau on bass, Thomas Sieger on trombone, Philipp Adenacker on drums and Schmickler himself on guitar, drums and electronics. For the most part, the LP ignores its ten track markers, concentrating instead on gradual movement through Can-influenced Kraut-rockers (heavy on the rock), periods of more abstract, Eastern-oriented electronics, and what would be basic trance-techno were it not for assortment of acoustic instruments. There's an abundance of excellent music, the highlight being "Eso-T (Pt. 1)," a majestic piece of Eastern noise with brass reminiscent of a James Bond film.
