I have been playing music for the last forty years sitting in people's living rooms, patio's, around camp fires, and about any other relaxed informal setting you can think of. Through the years many people told me I should make a CD (or vinyl record, depending on how long ago it was) of my music so it could be shared in bigger circles. I was never motivated to do that till after the death of my son, Tommy Allen Davis III, on April 6th, 2006. Tommy was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 18. He loved my music and was very proud of his dad. The death of my son has changed the way I view the world and the people in it. Now, I know that Love is by far the most important thing that we humans can experience. Love is the common thread that ties all of our lives together. I also realized that our lives can end at any moment so we had better express our love every way we can. I started putting my CD, 'Lately', together a couple years ago, but, nothing seemed to work out. Finally, five years after Tommy's death, I was able to string words together in a song that I feel expresses some of the things I need to say about that subject. It seems the CD was waiting for the last song, 'Lately'. This CD is a collection of my own short story experiences accompanied by my mountain/folk/homespun style of guitar and harmonica playing and Preston Parris on bass. I hope some of these tales I tell remind you of your own and make you smile. I also hope to touch your heart.
