It is the "magic violin" that tells a story,it is a note or a sound which reflects a whole new world or creates lively imaginations that deeply affects our hearts and touches one`s soul.Over sudden, one finds himself or herself in a landscape full of histories.At once, we understand "Foreign Tongues" as if they were indeed ours.The Violinist Florentina Gumpert descends from a family where music always had played an important role. When Florentina had finished her classical education, she had become the first violinist first in the Symphony Orchestra, then in the Thuringian Sympfoniker for the better part of over 12 years.Florentina herself is a genre-crosser who draws no distinction between classical music and pop music.The result sweeps one off one`s feet and can be described as propulsive world music ranging from Ireland to the Balkans including modern groove-rhythm and a striking sound of violin."This is exactly how a world music in the real sense should emerge by combining several elements that are in fact very different and contraire" ,says the soloist."Regardless of our backround, the main characteristics of our works is the pure delight and joy of making music...The new project Companions-REILL-Celtic dancing party is a joint project she created with her husband Juergen playing the double bass (as well as on the guitar) and with her daughter Marie-Jeanne playing the hurdy-gurdy as well as the Keyboards.From the very first moment, the "Companions"captures the audience by their performance full of spirit and joy.Searching for ancient musical connections between east and west, the interpreters were crossing between worlds at the same time.The audience will experience Brithonic dances,Doinas,ancient yet unknown Irish ballads and medieval pieces, the latter being sometimes performed with instruments rare in existence, such as the "Streichpsalter", the Hahnehkopfdrehleier" or the Scandinavia Kantele.In doing so, the Companions have found their very special way to impart a piece of world music to an audience that by now has reached a significant large number.
