简介
Meet Dylan the Astronaut, a quirky, light-hearted group of guys who describe their sound as a "trainwreck of musical genres," but in a good way. A true toast to all things space age, band members Luke Wharton, Brian Dozier, Chris Denman, Jesse Henson and Josh Holmes all agree that their music is definitely filled with a creative ambient sound and energy, something the band's been perfecting for years. You can check them out if you like, but take warning, DtA packs a musical punch of post-progressive, indie space-rock that's just enough to get your hair raising. Before you go, hear what the boys have to say about just who is Dylan the Astronaut: Question: Who is Dylan and why is he an astronaut? Answer: When we started the band it was just two of us in a little room getting material together. Before we were a full band we had a much more folky sound. We used a lot of effects and spacey-sounding things, so we made a joke that it was like Bob Dylan went to outerspace. Q: When did you guys form the band? A: This band actually started in December 2009. Q: Who are some of your inspirations musically? A: Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Brand New, Modest Mouse, RX Bandits, Closure in Moscow. Q: Is there an album dropping soon? A: Should be wrapped up soon with a release in March entitled "Hunt for the Flux Capacitor." We just had a vocal change so we had to go back and re-track the vocals for our new sound. We're looking at about a month or two. Q: What's different about DTA from when it began? We've gone through quite a few member changes, but it's brought a newer aggressive feel. There's a lot more energy and we're bringing that to the forefront. We've broadened a bit, and we're bringing a new sound. Q: How do you feel about the music scene in Shreveport? A: It's popping again. It's trying to get back to the point of where it was 10 years ago when American Tragedy would play sold-out shows every weekend. You don't have a good music scene unless you have a core all-age following. Since 516 Soundstage went away, we haven't had one, but now with the Collective and Media Star Hall, we have that music scene again. Without an all-age foundation, you have nothing.
