Martha's Trouble released their first children's album that not only is soothing for baby, but it's not boring for mom and dad. After touring the country for years and talking to parents all over, Martha's Trouble realized the need for thier music to reach the youngest generation. Being parents themselves they know how important music is for children's developement and it only made sense that they would add this to their catalog. Not only does the album provide audio stimulation, but it has visual stimulation as well from the beautiful artwork that the album includes. The duo created a very organic, acoustic record, utilizing soothing, calming instruments and repetitive beats (with only hand percussion such as djembe, cajon, kanjira, and frame drum) for a sound that is both feel-good and relaxing. This album contains a total of ten songs, with four originals and some traditional lullabies thrown in, as well, such as “Twinkle Twinkle,” “Hush Little Baby,” and “You Are My Sunshine.” From iPads to iPods, video games and all things electronic, it’s not just adults who are so often receiving such a steady stream of stimuli these days. Kids are, too. Folk duo Martha’s Trouble decided to go unplugged in hopes that children might, as well. At least at bedtime.
