Originally conceived as a vehicle for make record and touring with friends, Nous Révons has quickly become a musical ideal of its own. Nous Révons founder, engineer and producer Derrick Horne initially envisioned the group as a nylon guitar duo with percussion, including some of the finest musicians from Dallas/Fort Worth. Guitarists include Mark Lettieri (Snarky Puppy), Phil Aelony (Funky Knuckles), Allen Cato ( Marcus Miller), Todd Parsnow (Kirk Franklin), and Michael Nesuda. Percussionists Craig Weaver, world music specialist Jamal Mohamed, and Jackson Butt round out the ensemble. Normally, gathering first-call musicians of this caliber in one place is a daunting task, but today's digital recording technology made it a possible. The common thread among the musicians is a desire–or dream, to bring peace to humanity through music–hence the title of the project. Another mutual element was the love shared for "guitar music" from earlier generations. With this in mind, each guitarist and percussionist brings his unique style to their featured performances, anchored by the basic tracks of Derrick Horne (guitar and percussion) and Weaver (percussion). This debut project does not disappoint, featuring stellar performances of deftly arranged covers and original compositions by Horne. "Last Time We Met" begins the experience with a Horne's solo guitar moving between classical and funky R&B fingerstyle. After the guitarists weave masterfully through a myriad of styles including pop, R&B, jazz, and world music, We Dream culminates in a rousing version of "Peg", where the guitarists take 16-bar solos. Says Horne, "The only request was that everyone played a nylon guitar and brought their A game. They did just that. It was humbling to watch some of these guys blaze solos on my own gear."
