简介
Following on his 2012 release of album "Necesitamos Amor," Sammy Torres' latest single, "Festegol," uses Afro-Peruvian influences to speak about the beloved sport of soccer. Sammy comes from a musical family, from which he gained the knowledge that led him to develop his singing style. When Sammy arrived in New York, his enthusiasm and love of Latin music steered him to auditioning for local bands. While in New York he was a vocalist for the Chimpum York band and sang with Julio Barreto. He performed with the groups Combo Ocho and Los Peloteros del Swing. Sammy came to Seattle in 2004 and played for Jazz saxophonist Layla Angulo. They performed for many festivals and events in the Puget Sound region. They also played at the Triple Door's main event concerts, which eventually led Sammy to form his own band called Salsariba. While working on his band's CD in 2006, titled "Salsariba," Sammy returned to Peru, where he had the great honor of recording with such talented artists as Oscar Huaranga, Carlos Ubillus, David Barreto, and Willy Gonzalez from the Orquestra Camaguey, as well as Jose Misajel, Omar Ubillus, Rafael Labarrera, and Juan Canevello. In 2012, Sammy Torres y su Salsariba introduced eight original songs on his new CD, "Necesitamos Amor." The rhythms are contagious and the salsa interpretations first rate. Produced in Peru, "Necesitamos Amor" again features Peruvian and Cuban musicians. Songs like Si Te Portas Mal, Necesitamos Amor, La Fe, La Parcerita, are also featured on YouTube as music videos.
