This album is best listened to in a single sitting. It's a 20-minute sonic and symbolic experience that aims to penetrate the psyche of the modern American soul. The first track, "Stars" sets the stage for the inward journey. "The year the stars fell down…" an avatar descends to teach the bard the deepest truth of existence. "To each is given a secret door…will you walk through?" "Life is a Fire" comes hot on the heels of the previous track to stoke the flames of experience. "Best burn for something" while "the candle isn't yet snuffed out." "The Holy Hum" is a mystical reflection and meditation. It brings into focus the historical backdrop of the American soul. "O America, you are the daughter of majesty and slaughter." We are all the sons and daughters of violence and the highest ideals. "Hear the Holy Hum to form a union, more perfect than the old one." "Mississippi" evolves out of it's predecessor as a love song for the waters, who "used to be a girl. She fell and crashed in Minnesota." She is redemption. She is still pure despite "the darkness she has swallowed" from these "riverboats and gamblers." This concludes the suite and the listener is back in the woods standing at that "secret door."
