\"Gospel music for today\'s generation\". Gospel City was born into this world as Gospel Hip Hop, but has matured into a soul saving ministry, ready to spread the \"Good News \" throughout the world. It all started years ago when me, my cousin Frankie(now Past. Fransisco Vega), and my friend Curtis threw some words together over a P. Diddy beat for a coffee house up in Middletown, NY. The feeling that we felt was almost like we had just finished an hour long praise and worship session, but it was the reaction from the crowd that moved us to consider what we did as a ministering tool. Months later I put together a four man group called \"God Squad\" (no not the one out the Bronx). We put biblical rhymes over secular beats, and became \"Street Evangelists\". Taking the Living Word out the church and bringing it to the cats on the streets. We were a force of God untill, the same sins God delivered us from, came back to haunt us and we dismantled. Knowing that there was a calling on our lives to minister the gospel, 3 of the 4 members including myself, formed a new group, \"The Flock Family\". Adding on 4 new members, we became a powerhouse for the kingdom. Performing our own music over our own beats, and now we were performing out of state, doing bigger and better venues. We were even blessed to perform and win the McDonalds Gospel Fest for best Rap/Hip Hop Duo or group. The joy was back, we were fullfilling our calling and it felt like nothing a man has ever felt before. We also put out a cassette tape of about 3-4 songs and distributed them for free. We were at the top, ministering, changing live(as well as ours) and loving it. It was hard to always keep track of 6 other members, and slowely the old life we led crept back in, and 1 by 1 we were being picked off till the Flock was no more. Along the path , I had grown spiritually close to one of the members. We had the same love for what we had been doing, what we were doing for the kingdom and what we were doing for \"Him\". We decided to give it one more try, to really discover if this is what we were called to do. We kept it simple, just calling ourselves \"Hardcore and Echo\". We were doing it again, preaching, teaching and ministering. We were sure that nothing could get in our way this time. We became less flash, and more Jesus. We were given blessed opportunities to minister with Gospel Hip Hop powerhouses like Sean Slaughter and Nikki Cruz\' T.R.U.C.E. But, it\'s when your at your highest, when satan hits the hardest. And in a flash Core had stepped down and doubt began to creep in like a thief in the night. Was I fooling myself? Was the season over? Have I let down my king again? Not knowing what to do, I took some time off to prepare to get married, and it was after much prayer that Christ made it loud and clear, that His Word must go forth, and if wasn\'t me being used, than it would be someone else. With 8 years in my pocket, flyhighs and let downs included..... Gospel City was born. This time keeping it more close to home, my wife Jessica became my photographer/accountant and my best friend Jim became my manager. I had to go through all this to be ready for what God has instore for this ministry. I know what I must do, and I know who must I do it for. It\'s not easier, and I\'m still not perfect(and I never will be), but I was faithful and obediant to my calling. Gospel City doesn\'t sound like anyone else, doesn\'t look like anyone else. The music speaks for itself. I do this for the fun of it and to make my heavenly father smile.
