简介
fourth stream…La Banda, for orchestra, jazz ensemble and solo trumpet, was commissioned in 2009 by Dr. Robert T. Stroker, Dean of the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University in Philadelphia. Bill Cunliffe, who formerly taught at the Boyer College and has known and performed with Terell Stafford for more than a decade, envisioned this piece as an homage to Luis Biava’s Latin American roots and a vehicle to showcase the talent of Boyer’s orchestra and jazz students. A synthesis of styles, including classical, Latin jazz and improvisation, fourth stream…La Banda was performed by the Temple University Symphony Orchestra at sold out concerts at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia (March 21, 2010) and Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall (April 9, 2010).
