简介
This first solo album is a collection of older and newer songs. The album is titled after the opening song, “Nobody Goes to the Moon Anymore.” Mike Harris is the composer and arranger of all the songs, and he recorded all the parts as a DIY solo recording artist. In this offering, the lyrics are quite poetic, and there is one instrumental composition. There are no hard-edged rock songs on this particular album, although there are some heavier rock songs in the works for future releases. --- About the songs: Nobody Goes to the Moon Anymore This song was written in 1999, which was 27 years after the final lunar landing in 1972. In 2017, which is now 45 years after that Apollo 17 mission, the words are even more applicable! Musically, the song is pop/rock with a slight reggae feel, and has a melodic guitar solo. The lyrics are imaginative. It’s That Same Old Game This is what musicians call a “16-bar blues”, and it has bluesy lyrics. It was written and recorded in 2013. Mike plays an original 1936 lap-style Dobro slide guitar, and also plays a solo on his 1959 Gibson 330 TD electric guitar. The Sun Goes Down This song opens with an offbeat riff composed way back in about 1978, that was first used in a song written in 1981 that was recorded by The Bluebludz at a studio in Toronto, but which was never released. The original words referred to events of the day, and soon went out of date. The entire song was then rewritten with some minor changes in the chords, and a new arrangement. The new music tracks were recorded by Harris in the late 1980s, and the new words were written and recorded about a year ago. She Waits For You The lyrics to this song are like an epic poem, in that they tell a story. It also contains an almost classical instrumental theme composed for the lead guitar. It resembles a folk-rock song, in that it includes an acoustic guitar strumming the chords throughout. The storyline was thought of decades ago, and written down as a poem in about 1998. The recording was completed only a few years ago. Midnight Songbird This is a mood-evoking instrumental song. It has a haunting melody with a bass flute sound that was played on a synthesizer. The other instruments are acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass guitar.
