Something of a departure after years of pounding out driving rock around the Lower East Side and Brooklyn with his band Easy Tells, Matthew Crosby's solo debut blends the lyricism of Jackson Brown with the stripped down experimentalism of Jeff Tweedy. The sound is informed in equal parts by Crosby's debt to the great singer-songwriters of the 1970s and by the fresh sonic edge provided by producer/guitarist Ryan Mackstaller and avant-garde drummer Tim Kuhl. This alchemy is evident in the record's centerpiece, "I Just Want You".
