Jay Cabassa was born in the South Bronx. Jay is the youngest of 4 brothers and the oldest of 5 sisters. Raised by his mother a servant of the Lord, Jay knew from an early age he wanted nothing more than to seek the will of God through his gifting of singing. Jay has now grown up to be a man after God’s own heart. He married his lovely wife Sarah in 2005. They both still reside in the Bronx with their beautiful daughter Genesis Sarai Cabassa. Music has always been apart of his life since he was a kid. Being the youngest boy he always looked up to his older brothers who were local hip hop Dj’s. He’s always had a huge love for hip-hop and soul music. His influences are Tupac Shakur, Kirk Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway & Cross Movement just to name a few. What makes Jay sing gospel…………Christ!! He’s been through his share of pain as a young man but nothing like the love of Jesus has seen him through. Jay says “I do this music because today’s music is not a reality for people, it’s like there is one writer and one concept. I want to be a part of changing lives through my music. When they hear me I want the words Christ has given me to pierce the hearts of those who don’t know Him and transform from glory to glory for those who do know Him”. If you want a conclusion definition to Jay Cabassa it just simply means an imperfect man in an imperfect world that chooses to seek and please the face of God.
