简介
Bio/History: Clemits is an underground MC and producer from Austin, Texas. Inspired by groups like A Tribe Called Quest, Atmosphere, Wu Tang, Living Legends, Company Flow and Project Blowed, Clemits released his self-produced demo in 2003. The following year released his group, MSG Crew’s, first demo entitled “Breezewood.” 2005 saw the independent release of MSG Crew’s first professionally recorded and manufactured album, “Jobs are for the Birds.” Creating a strong buzz for the group, this release went on to sell 1,000 copies hand to hand. Due to the success of the album a self-promotional tour through Europe was organized, which included sharing stages with the likes of Sage Francis and Grand Buffet. The European tour led to an additional 500 copies of the album being sold. Now an international name, Clemits came home to Austin and recorded his first professionally produced solo album, “Last Laugh Rising Sun,” which sold an impressive 2,000 copies independently. In support of this new project, Clemits toured Texas relentlessly and earned opening spots for Sunspot Jonz of Living Legends, 2MEX of the Visionaries, Josh Martinez, Abstract Rude of Project Blowed, Awol One of The Shapeshifters, Killah Priest, Himself, Blueprint, and Tash (Alkaholiks). In March of 2008 he played the Undergroundhiphop.com showcase with Icon the Mic King during the South By South West Music Festival . On April 15th 2008 Clemits released, “Tomorrows Friend,” a solo album featuring production by Andrew Eckerson. Receiving a rating of 3 out of 4 stars in an Austin Chronicle review writer Chase Hoffberger praised: “The result blends suitably with a ‘Clean Slate’ of melodic, Andrew Eckerson beats in the mold of Delicious Vinyl’s mid-1990s recordings, highlighted by the J. Dilla-inspired ‘Love is Like Drugs’.” AccessHipHop.com said: “… comes Austin, Tx, native and all around artist and emcee, Clemits, for some heartfelt everyday life raps and feel better beats.” “…this is defiftely not the type of stuff people are used to hearing coming out of the Lone Star State.” Shortly after the release of “Tomorrows Friend,” Clemits embarked on the successful “Get Some” tour. Starting in Austin and going through Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Tempe, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Riverside California Clemits sold 700 CD’s and significantly broadened his national fan-base. Due to the success of the “Get Some” tour Clemits, once again hit the road for the “Savage on the Run” tour. Also a great success, and with another 350 CD’s sold, this tour further expanded Clemits fan-base and brought attention to his MSG Crew and their upcoming 2009 release. The momentum of the “Get Some” tour caught the eye of Hiphipdelight.com host, Haps. When Clemits and MSG Crew returned to Los Angeles on the “Savage on the Run” tour Haps invited them to be the featured artists on the show. The show included a four segment interview and live performances of “Whut Chu; Got To Lose?” and “No, No, No.” 2009 has Clemits slated for a European tour, the release of “Tomorrows Friend” on vinyl EP, “Gorilla Braudcast 2,” solo album “I Miss James” (a collaboration with producer, Tyme), and the release of a still untitled MSG Crew album. Clemits future includes continuing to tour both nationally and abroad and establishing himself as a well known artist in the underground hip hop music genre.
