简介

The purpose of UNIT-E is to make music that becomes common knowledge. With the great wave of copyright restrictions that have encompassed the global political landcape, we, as global population have found ourselves with a draining pool of common knowledge and works of expression. Using free software, UNIT-E hopes to replenish the pool of common knowledge with works of art that may be used and expressed by everyone. There are no limitations to what can be done with the individual works of art, all that we ask is that UNIT-E is at least credited for their creation. "Well, overall I think 2003 has been a very good year for us. We're still small, still obscure, but fans are definitely getting our music. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing. Sharp wanted to produce this album, so I let him put this together, with mostly his tracks, and contributed a few extra tracks to the album. I am impressed with the work he has done to make this album a reality, and to think, we were only a few days behind the projected release date, which really was a miracle when you consider that, well for us, this isn't our primary survival pursuit. I hope that 2004 will be a productive year.. we may not release 3 albums, but we will do our best to improve our music, and to make it reachable to a wider audience, not just in terms of familiarity with our music, but also in terms of distribution. As always, the source to all of our music is up for grabs... currently since it is all in SSM, that is the source material we have. if you don't have a copy of SSM, feel free to pick one up at http://www.pawfal.org/ (the software is SpiralSynthModular). (and yes, you do need a bunch of LADSPA plugins.. we use the SWH and CMT set. Where to get these are left up as an exercise to the reader.) THANKS: Anyway.. Kudos off to Sharp for putting this album together, Kudos to ajgenius for helping out in lots of code and patches to make SSM a better place to write music... to both aj and drklarth for continuing to push themselves to write better music, and to improve their methods of bringing a musical idea to reality... to superdan for helping me to realise the value of silence, in music, even in small, carefully placed moments... to Lindah for pushing our music all over Sweden... to Isky for valuable critiques and insight.. she wasn't able to do any vocals for this album..but rest assured, she will return for future releases! to all the fans of this music whomever they are, were, or will be, this music lives on through everyone who experiences it, and/or decides to build upon it. And well, most of all to God, who managed to give me small opportunities to make music, even in the midst of a chaotic work-life. -TSCHAK" "I've been working with TSCHAK for...well so long now that it really doesn't matter, and I've done two remixes of TSCHAK's work for UNIT-E, Jian (which is on this album) and Displacement. Displacement was from the first album. Back when I made the remix it was "sharp and UNIT-E." Albums are bigger than singles and I feel that this is my first real release. Now this was before UNIT-E had a channel on IRC, but when it really got going, TSCHAK and I exchanged ideas and bounced SSM files off of eachother. This is what UNIT-E was supposed to be about, and it is what it became, and this album is the result. Anything else I would have said has already been said by TSCHAK except he's said it a lot better than I would have. And now for the thank yous... First off, TSCHAK for being in the right place at the right time, opening me up to A LOT of music, and for making music with me; ajgenius and drklarth for constant feedback; everyone who heard pre-releases of songs on this album and gave me feedback; #fnr and Freenode, because without them this would have never happened; readc and Kyu for being honest, and also for liking my music; and finally, you, the listener, for taking time out of your life to hear what we made. Finally, if theres anybody out there who wants to make music with us, #unit-e on irc.freenode.net. (Head over to http://www.irchelp.org/ if you have no idea what that means.) Hope all you people enjoy the album, - Sharp"
