简介
The Highlife is a 5 piece world reggae band that plays popular dance music of the Caribbean, Brazil, Ghana, and beyond. Their debut showcases these styles with well crafted pop songs in English, French, and Spanish. Bassist Dylan Hughes lays down heavy lines on tracks such as the West African Reggae anthem, Molo Molo and Where Are We Going, a cover of a Marvin Gaye tune. Both offer lyrics about taking it one step at a time, day in day out. Standout originals include the love song, High Five, which puts a fresh spin on the classic Jamaican dancehall rhythm Mambo Jumbo, a Cuban mambo with interplay in solos between bass and percussionist, Randy Reed's congas. Vocalist and guitarist, Daniel Miller, plays a clean and melodic style that fits in nicely with drummer Jonny Miller's fills and polyrhythmic grooves. Highly Recommended.
