简介
A native of Shreveport Louisiana, Julieann Banks returned to her “hometown” of Austin Texas in 2007. In 2009 she joined Texas’ own most popular and long standing satirical folk, country, bluegrass group The Austin Lounge Lizards as bassist and vocalist. She continues to perform solo doing her own music and playing bass and singing in her pop party power trio The Activates as well. Julieann’s latest release Magazine and Race was recorded at world renown FAME studio in Muscle Shoals Alabama. The same studios where legendary recordings have been made by Aretha Franklin, Little Richard, Otis Redding and many others. Musicians - Julieann - Vox, washboard!, acoustic guitar, Larry Byrom (Steppenwolf, Steve Winwood) - Acoustic and electric guitar, slide, wurlitzer. Jeff King (Reba McEntire, Faith Hill) - electric guitar, bazooki and banjo. David Hood (Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson) - Bass. Roger Guth (Jimmy Buffett) - drums, cajon, percussion. Reese Wynans (Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble) - Hammond and Wurlitzer organ, piano. Hassell Teekell - accordion. James LeBlanc, Gary Nichols - B Vox. Julieann on her CD Magazine and Race: "It was named after a street corner in New Orleans. The sight of an old orphanage and an unwed mothers home. The title track deals with such issues. I hope it survived the hurricanes! Uncanny that the song mentions rising water, guilt and forgiveness. I trekked to and from Alabama many times to get this one done. My first full length studio CD and first time to record with all studio musicians. Interesting take. The last track Jimmy and I almost scratched because we just couldn't get happy with the sound. The studio guys were long gone back to Nashville so as a last ditch effort to save the track we tried a take with me playing the guitars and Jimmy banging on bronze plant holders turned upside down and finally got close to the sound we were looking for! It always cracks me up when someone says it’s their favorite song on the CD!" As well as being an award winning vocalist and songwriter and an accomplished bassist, Julieann also plays guitar, keyboards, harmonica, drums and percussion.
