简介
After the successful release of “El amor es un fantasma” (‘Love is a Ghost’), her debut album, Guatemala-born singer / songwriter Shery had an insight: in order to remain true to her songwriting, she needed to get away from the stage and public light, and focus on one thing: living. And live she did. Intensely, heartbreakingly, exhilaratingly. The result, after several years of collecting experiences through an extensive, bumpy search for her own identity, is a fresh stream of sensual, wicked songs about love, sex and passion - with joyful, rebel twist. The first of the series is “Virgen ya no” (‘Virgin No More’), a controversial, catchy song about breaking free from gender / sexual prejudices and taboos. “I refuse to accept the stereotype that we women should be submissive, selfless, innocent good girls. We are not the weaker sex, and certainly we are not just ‘toys for boys'. Quite the oposite: we females are brave, bright, strong, sensual, loving and passionate beings with the all the right of living our lives as we please”, says Shery. With music composed by Shery and lyrics co-written with Sergio Flores, the single was produced and recorded in Mexico at Il Mondo Music Studios, by the Grammy-nominated producer Orlando R. Di Pietro (Anahí, Paty Cantú, Marta Sánchez y Armando Manzanero. The song is available in three versions: the original, with a fresh latin pop-rock flavor; a Mexican banda version, and a third cut in an electro-pop beat. A karaoke sing-along track is also included on the release. Audio mastering was performed in Miami, Florida by Jose Blanco (Natalia Lafourcade - "Hasta La Raíz", Julieta Venegas - "Los Momentos", Andrés Calamaro - “Bohemio”), a two times Grammy and ten times Latin Grammy award winning mastering engineer. The videoclip, produced in Guatemala over eight intense days of actual shooting, was directed by Christian Celada. It features three different “Sherys”: The Prude, The Singer, and The Slut, who interact simultaneously with each as the story revolves around a Hot Macho (Jonathan Landa) that drives them crazy. “Some scenes were just too spicy for a music video, and had to be edited”, says Celada. Guest musicians include Mynor Pelaez, Luken, Javi Stugart, Pablo Saravia and Luis Pedro Garcia.
