Making whimsical Surf-Pop may seem like a daunting task when you live states away from the nearest beach, but guitarist and vocalist Jared Corder was determined to make the music reminiscent of his California birthplace. After living in Nashville, TN for 3 years and experiencing mild success with former band, OH NO NO, Corder decided to pursue a more stripped down, raw, punk-rock-surfboard style of music. Drummer Andy Herrin, who had worked with Corder at a local record shop, was the first person in mind to be in the new band. For almost a year, Herrin and Corder worked out new songs and made a few early demos, all with the idea in mind to bring on one more member, a female singer. While working on new songs with their producer, Gregory Lattimer from Now Records (ALBERT HAMMOND JR., KINK ADOR, THE GILLS, THE GRAYCES), Lattimer suggested Jared’s wife, Kristyn, to sing in the band. The three piece creatively clicked immediately, and began creating music with influences ranging from The Kinks to The B-52’s. Once described in the press as “Dick Dale’s snot-nosed grandkids” the trio tracked a single and a few other songs with Lattimer in a basement in their hometown of East Nashville. Their first single “12345678” was released in March of ’13 after being leaked to the local press and getting airplay on the local favorite radio station, Lightning 100.
