简介
The song of God's people began at creation. With the stars of the morning, with the birds of the air, we were made to sing, to give praise to the author of all beauty. This celebration in song reminds us of the long traditions of that song of praise. From Latin chant to Latin American folk song, we explore some of the ways God's people have lifted their voices in song. The reading of scripture reminds us that much of our song takes its cue from the Bible, both as response to the story of God's creating and redeeming acts and as echo of the very words written by scriptural prophet and poet. This celebration in song was recorded live in Boe Memorial Chapel, March 7, 1994 with the Cantorei in the rear balcony, the assisting choirs in the center section below and the congregation surrounding the choirs. A live recording always involves the risk of imperfections yet offers a special spirit difficult to duplicate in a closed recording session, especially when congregational song is included. The listener is invited to imagine the setting, enter into the spirit of the evening and join us in song. Assisted by members of the following choirs: Chancel Choir, Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hastings, MN Senior Choir, St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Northfield, MN Senior Choir, St. John's Lutheran Church, Northfield, MN Senior Choir, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Northfield, MN Chapel Choir, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN Manitou Singers, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN St. Olaf Choir, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN Viking Chorus, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN
