A Canadian dream pop group, Memoryhouse hail from Guelph, Ontario. The band was founded in 2009 by photographer Denise Nouvion and classical composer Evan Abeele. Memoryhouse made their debut with the singles "To the Lighthouse" and "Lately", both later appearing on their EP, The Years. The EP was re-released in 2011 by Sub Pop Records, who also released the duo's full-length debut, The Slideshow Effect (2012). Three years later, Memoryhouse release their sophomore album, Soft Hate (2016).
