Everything I Own is hitting the charts and is #1 most added at ACQB (FMQB), #4 most added on Mediabase and #6 most added on the R&R Chart! Check back here for the latest radio updates. London’s heartfelt, emotionally compelling cover of “Everything I Own,” the David Gates song that was originally a hit for the soft rock group Bread in 1972, is going for adds at AC radio on February 6. The multi-talented singer, songwriter and performer set the stage for his breakthrough as a pop artist during the 2008 holiday season, when his intimate rendition of the classic “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” was the #2 most added track on FMQB’s AC40 Chart and Radio & Records’ (R&R) AC Chart during the same week. London is in some exciting company alongside other classic artists who have recorded “Everything I Own”: Olivia Newton-John, Georgie Fame, Boy George, ‘N Sync, Jude, Rod Stewart and Chrissie Hynde, among others. Although the song is frequently interpreted as a romantic love song, Gates actually wrote the song as a tribute to his father after his father died. Along those lines, when London was in the studio recording the track with producer Eric Colvin—a veteran film composer—his performance was inspired by the memory of his friend Dan Pierson, who died too young of cancer. More about "Everything I Own": “There are so many ways listeners can feel the power of this wonderful song,” says London. “For several generations of listeners, it’s been a classic breakup song, but one that inspires hope because it’s really about missing someone who brought life-changing love to our lives. It makes people think about just how much our loved ones mean to us. David Gates’ lyrics can help us realize just how lucky we have been to have known so many wonderful people in our lives. But it was also a personal thing for me because of Dan, and I thought about the beautiful wife he left behind and how she would feel when she heard it.” “Everything I Own” which also features background vocals and guitar contributions by ICONS Musical Director David Zeman of The Rembrandts/Gin Blossoms, who also mixed the track. The track also features famed session singers Arnold McCuller and Kate Markowitz on backing vocals and Vern Monnett, who plays electric guitar for Black Sabbath, Gary Allen and Freddy Fender, on the slide guitar.
