简介

“For many years I’ve been fascinated by the power of music and it’s capability to reach across the cultural and spiritual differences that divide this world. It’s a common language that we can all understand and appreciate, and it can help to bring us closer together.” Producer Thomas van Nes has been living in Asia for more then twenty five years. Since he opened his recording studio in 1997 he has been working on a wide variety of music with a passion for relaxation music. Mixed Colors is the seventh CD in the Rejuvenation series. After co producing several chill out albums with Ban Sabai Spa it was only a matter of time before he started for himself and now has all his titles on his own THomasso Records label. Combining his passion for music and traveling he has recorded in many Asian countries creating a fusion of traditional and Western sounds. “Mixed Colors” continues with the successful and intriguing fusion of the age old musical tradition from Nepal and the Indian subcontinent with the saxophone and modern technological possibilities. The recordings took place at the same time as those for “Into Light” and the abundance of inspiring music played by some of the same musicians that featured on the earlier released “Pilgrim to the Unknown” and others made it possible to release two albums simultaneously with a different feel. Where “Into Light” is specially designed for pure relaxation without vocals and most tunes based on dreamy bansuri melodies, “Mixed Colors” has a more cosmopolitan and upbeat character. Brazilian guitarist/songwriter Sylvia Patricia provided three tracks in collaboration with Thomas and also two keyboard players put down a base for the other session musicians to add inspiring contributions. Besides bansuri tabla, mohan vinai, sarangi, sitar, violin, and saxophone (by jazz legend Ralph Thomas, who spent several years in Nepal) are used. Malti Acharya’s haunting vocals on several tracks complete the instruments. All drones and sounds are organic and have been used to enhance the character of the instruments in creating music for both relaxation and inspiration.
