The posthumous good fortune of Carl Schuricht (1880-1967) has its roots in the recent past and originates, as is the case with many other favourites of the modern record collector, in the patient and devoted research on the part of a handful of scholars. From 1980 (the centenary of the conductor's birth) onwards, they were responsible for the promotional in Europe of various initiative (articles, discographies, live recordings on CD) aimed at increasing the fame of the Maestro from Danzig. A serious critical monograph on Schuricht is still unfortunately lacking, but on the whole we are well informed on his long and varied career.
