简介
Max & Gillian have been folkin' and jokin' and writin' folk tunes since 2010. Gillian has just finished her fourth year the Crane School of Music as a Music Business major with a piano concentration. She's been a classically trained pianist for fifteen years and has also fiddled around with jazz piano, having performed with the Crane Jazz Ensemble. She has also studied drums, cello, mandolin, and ukulele. In the band, she can often be found playing banjo. Max has been classically trained on the viola for fifteen years and whips it out occasionally to play a few tunes. He has been playing guitar for a ten or so years and is pretty darn good, if we do say so ourselves. He also used to jam out to Green Day covers on bass guitar with his ultra-cool punk band from high school. The two met at their college orientation and soon found out that their voices blended together like a nice chianti with a well-prepared steak. Okay, so I don't know anything about nice wines but you get the picture. They wrote their first tune "All is Well" during their sophomore year and then the music just kept on comin'. During this last year, they won the SUNY Potsdam's Battle of the Bands. They also began performing with a full band, including a lead guitarist, violinist, ukulele player, bassist, and drummer. They rocked out at campus events, house shows, local bars, and headlined at the end of the year May Fest music festival. The two spent six to eight hours a day for over two months working on recording their debut album in Gillian's bedroom. The piano tracks were all recorded on Steinway grand pianos. The twelve original tracks also include acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, trumpet, violin, harmonica, singing saw, melodica, viola, Gillian's much-sought-ofter whistlin' prowess, and more. So give the album a listen if you want to hear music that is both heartwarming and fun, atmospheric and rockin', intricately crafted and wonderfully chaotic. We loved making it and hopefully you'll love listening to it!
