简介
Bernard “Pretty” Purdie is arguably the most recorded drummer in the world. He is considered an influential and innovative pioneer of funk, jazz, blues, pop, country and rock drumming. He is known for his strict musical time keeping and "The Purdie Shuffle." One of his favorite songwriters is fellow New Jerseyan, Jack Hoban. On this live album, Purdie joins Jack's band, Rogues on the Run, for a rockingly funky set of some of Jack's most diverse and memorable songs. Rogues on the Run specializes in traditional blues and original contemporary blues/jazz music. They play at numerous clubs on the Jersey shore, as well as, many outdoor music festivals and concerts. They have also opened for B.B. King. As good as the Rogues are, however, when Purdie joins them it is magic. Who provided the back-beat for Steely Dan's "Aja?" And for whom have Isaac Hayes, Donny Hathaway, B.B. King, Joe Cocker, Jeff Beck and Alan Jackson reserved that stool behind the drum kit? Bernard “Pretty” Purdie. He has anchored sessions with Aretha Franklin, Hall & Oates, Frank Sinatra, the Rolling Stones, James Brown and Tom Jones with equal ease. Rogues on the Run Live! with Bernard Purdie is more like an "authorized bootleg." No one in the band new that they were being recorded, so you get it straight: raw-good, listen-able and dance-able. And of course, there is the "Purdie Shuffle..."
