‘Detention EP’ continues in Taktschleife’s trajectory of releasing unmissable underground magic designed to dominate the dancefloor. The release, delivered by Belgium’s Davinson, features 4 brand new tracks from the talented producer which further solidifies his status as a name to be taken very, very seriously. Title track ‘Detention’ starts the release with a techy chugger immediately moving with a punchy kick and some highly confident clap samples. As the track patiently progresses, sinister bass-heavy synth tones drive the audio into pitch black territories while looping bleeps and tones provide a steady state of hypnosis for the duration of the track. Swedish techno trailblazer, Samuel L Session provides a remix of ‘Detention’ which strips back the elements into a more subdued affair. The twisted bleeps and tones take center stage for the remix whilst a relentless structure keeps things moving with zero stops. It’s an ideal heads down DJ tool meant to grab the listeners without letting go. ‘Time’ is about as raw and rugged as dance music gets, with an unpolished kick drum pushing the momentum forward from the beginning. Looped vocal samples, crunchy percussion and well executed arrangement make this club banger absolutely essential for building energy and blowing minds. As the name implies, ‘Demolisher’ is meant to demolish the dancefloor. Impatiently starting at full power from the first loop, this track is all about building tension in the mix. Wobbly kick drums and cinematic synths combine with midnight level synth loops to create a piece of club music perfectly suited for smoke machines and sleep deprivation. Finalizing the EP is ‘Haunted Memories,’ an absolutely jackin’ slab of party techno with one of the toughest claps in recent times. Powerfully produced, the track takes a moment to space out about midway with some deep space synthesizer textures, only to fade away leaving nothing but the toughest rhythm programming we’ve heard from Davinson yet.
