Opera roles include Carmen in Carmen (Kitsap Opera, Bremerton, WA), Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance (Tacoma Opera), Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Meg in Falstaff, Mercedes in Carmen, The Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte (Opera in the Heights, Houston), the Witch in Hansel and Gretel (The Living Opera, Dallas), Maddalena in Rigoletto (Lyric Opera Northwest, Seattle and Amarillo Opera), Loma Williams in Cold Sassy Tree (Amarillo Opera), Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, Erika in Vanessa, Bellino in Casanova’s Homecoming, Marchesa Melibea in Il Viaggio a Reims (Moores Opera Center), and the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas (Ars Lyrica Houston). For the Houston Grand Opera, Padula sang the role of Sappho in Mark Adamo’s, Lysistrata in a reading and recording session for the composer. She is currently a Supplementary Choirister and Teaching Artist with Seattle Opera. Notable concert work includes being the mezzo-soprano soloist in Penderecki’s Credo (Houston Symphony), Mozart’s Requiem (Houston Masterworks Chorus, Kent State University Choral Union, Varna International), Mozart’s Mass in C-Minor (Gonzaga University), Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody (Orpheus Men’s Ensemble of Houston, San Antonio Men’s Chorus), Bernstein’s Chicester Psalms (Bay Area Chorus of Houston) and Handel’s Israel in Egypt (Houston Masterworks Chorus). In the Pacific Northwest, she has soloed with the Oregon Symphony, the Portland Symphonic Choir, the Seattle Bach Choir, Opera Pacifica, and the Concert Opera of Seattle, and she has given solo recitals for the Second City Chamber Series and the Classical Tuesdays in Old Town Concert Series. Padula is currently the Director of Vocal Studies at the University of Puget Sound School of Music in Tacoma, WA where she teaches Applied Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Diction for Singers, Vocal Techniques and directs the Opera Theater. She completed both a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication at Trinity University, a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Houston Moores School of Music, where she focused in her dissertation on pedagogical issues with the male voice, particularly registration negotiation and passaggio. TANYA STAMBUK, piano, was hailed as "a player with a powerful technique, ideas of her own, and considerable promise" by the New York Times. Her concert career has taken her across the United States and throughout Western and Eastern Europe. She has performed with the Orchestre de Toulouse in France, the Virginia Symphony, Chicago Civic Orchestra in Orchestra Hall, the Bergen Philharmonic, the Lake Charles Symphony and Rapides Symphony Orchestra in Louisiana, Washington's Olympia Symphony, Yakima Symphony, Tacoma Symphony, Seattle Symphony and Oregon's Rogue Valley Symphony. Ms. Stambuk has been heard in recital at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in Croatia, the Robert Schumann Summer Festival in Germany, and in the Auditorio Nacional Carlos Alberto in Portugal where she won the international piano competition. She was also invited as a guest artist at the Perugia Summer Festival in Italy. Tanya Stambuk has made guest appearances on radio in New York City, Moscow, and in Croatia, and has appeared on a television program entitled IN PRAISE OF WOMEN PIANISTS. She has performed at the 92nd Street Y and Merkin Hall in New York City, the Music Academy in Philadelphia, the Phillips Collection in Washington DC, the Dame Myra Hess Series in Chicago, the Piano Series at the San Diego Art Museum, and at Brigham Young University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Hawaii. She premiered Norman Dello Joio’s newly revised Fantasy Variations for Piano and Orchestra in Florida and North Carolina which led to numerous performances of the music of Norman Dello Joio, and has unexpectedly led to her being considered an authority on and interpreter of the music of American composers. Tanya Stambuk has recorded the piano works of Norman Dello Joio on the Centaur label. Ms. Stambuk is a member of the Finisterra Piano Trio. The Finisterra Piano Trio is Artist-in Residence at The Season’s Concert Series in Eastern Washington and the Phoenix Concert Series in New York City. They have performed in England, Italy, and across the United States. Most recently, Tanya Stambuk recorded the complete piano trios of composer Daron Hagen with the Finisterra Piano Trio on the Naxos label. Ned Rorem, famed American composer, called Finisterra's recording of Hagen's piano trios, "exquisite." The recording was also named one of the five best American Contemporary Classical Releases by NPR. Harpist CATHERINE CASE has performed widely across the United States and abroad as a soloist and orchestral harpist. In the Pacific Northwest she plays for the 5th Avenue Theatre and Northwest Sinfonietta and serves as a substitute harpist for the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Tacoma Symphony. Ms. Case has served as Principal Harp for the Sarasota Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, Singapore and Yucatan Symphonies. As Assistant Principal Harp with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, she toured South America and recorded works of Villa-Lobos for BIS Records. The 2001 winner of the Ima Hogg National Young Artists Competition, Ms. Case performed Ginastera’s Harp Concerto with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. She has also appeared as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony (Washington), Kingsport Symphony, Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, and the Shepherd School of Music Chamber Orchestra. In 2006, Catherine was a featured soloist in a triple harp concerto by Kevin Kaska with the Doctors Orchestra of Houston. Ms. Case received degrees in harp performance from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and Rice University, where she was a student of Alice Chalifoux, Yolanda Kondonassis and Paula Page. She serves on the board of the American Harp Society as the Northwest Regional Director and Regional Director Coordinator. A passionate teacher, she has been on the faculty of the Marrowstone Music Festival, Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program and Hong Kong Harp Services. While a member of the Oberlin Contemporary Ensemble, Catherine performed the world premiere of “In the White Silence” by John Luther Adams, which was later released on New World Records. Upon the recommendation of the composer, she performed “Athabascan Dances” for harp and percussion at the 2006 National Harp Conference. She also appears on his Grammy-nominated piece, “Become Ocean,” with the Seattle Symphony.
