简介
"Blue achieves its aim of successfully slipping the boundaries of machine time, aligning itself with the body instead. Its diverging sections unfolding like REM sleep cycles or relaxed respiration. Or perhaps Blue is looking for longer time-frames, the slipping of a tide, the imperceptible turn of a petal tracking the sun. In any case, take the time to listen to this slow and captivating album." Ears For Eyes review "... is awash with a chamber scoring whose neo classical craft, aside being sublimely poised and deeply intimate, finds a sensitive passage hidden well away from the bright lights and bluster of modern pop and from that safe haven, intrinsically attunes and genteelly aligns itself to the very pulse of nature." The Sunday Experience review These tracks have been constructed in two different ways Invocations, Light & Water, Forest. Recordings of live solo cello through loop pedals and various guitar effects. Resonant Fields, Song. Separation into resonant nodes of individual bells recorded in the belfry of Gloucester Cathedral, reorganised in time. All tracks fight against the confines of artificial mechanical time - time as defined by clocks and metronomes - or rather ignore it and the expectation of pulse, metre and regularity; through rubato - ’stealing’ time - where phrases stretch, compact and switch pulse; and playing against metronomic time, layering loops that have no simple metre, if any, in common, forming a swirl of evolving sound. Each note is considered and played as if it is an entity and world in its own right, a mirror of the whole to which it belongs. Invocations I - III had their premiere performance at St Laurence's Church, Stroud on the Good On Paper stage as part of the Stroud Fringe Festival 2017 credits released August 27, 2017 Cello on tracks 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 performed by Simon McCorry All tracks by Simon McCorry Mixed at Centre for Science & Art Cover art take from ‘Blue Nude’ by Louise van den Muyzenberg Cover Design by William Simpson Special thanks to Jonathan Jarvis for access to the belfry of Gloucester Cathedral and sounding the bells.
