Four years ago we began full time in-home care for an elderly gentleman who became known to us and our two small children as “Uncle Dan.” He was born in the fall of 1914 and passed this March after living a robust 98 years. He served as a pharmacist in World War II and then came home to run the family t.v. shop for the remainder of his adult life.

We did not set out to be caregivers, but as we found ourselves in that position we continued to learn new things each step of the way. We greatly enjoyed the task of being his 'butler and maid' though it did not come without difficulty. Life is made up of maintenance, keeping routines and maintaining order - most of it without glam and glory. The life lessons gleaned through this experience have given us a better perspective on what it means to serve selflessly in a loving relationship. It's the little things that add up to a lifetime of serving someone else rather than yourself, and those little things are what make relationships work.

Our album "Intertwined" (to be released October 2013) is a collection of songs that we've written together over the past 6 years of our marriage. It speaks to the struggles and the joys of being in a romantic relationship. Packed with conflict and resolution, much like every day, the songs speak openly and painfully honest at times, yet they offer hope that it's never too late to reconcile.
