“Thoughts of a Hustler” is a story that describes the mind set of a kid that grew up in Sumter, South Carolina and became a man in Durham, North Carolina. Every hustler, no matter what the hustle is, has a state of mind that drives him or her towards a particular goal. Emil Ivan Eaglin, a.k.a. South Carolina Miles, was born and raised in Sumter City. He always had a love of music. During high school, SC Miles and his best friend, Edwin Kinard, worked at Celebrity 43. This night club was owned by Edwin’s uncle, Terry Kinard, an All American, Pro-Bowl, Super Bowl Champion with the New York Giants. SC Miles and Edwin worked weekends cleaning up the club. While cleaning, SC Miles would mess around with the turn tables. That’s when SC Miles knew that music was going to be a part of his future. After graduating from high school, SC Miles moved to Durham. That’s when SC Miles really came into his own musically. In Durham, SC Miles met people who freestyled for fun and were searching for studios to record in. Good intentions, along with a growing desire to work in the studio and make music, drove SC Miles to the streets. It was also at this time that his record label, Stand Firm Entertainment, was born. To make a long story short, SC Miles is currently incarcerated in a federal prison in Butner, North Carolina on a drug conspiracy conviction. This game is serious. Nevertheless, Stand Firm Entertainment is still standing. The name for the label came from his belief in God and a tattoo that he has on his side. The tattoo displays praying hands, encircled by the words “Stand Firm and Pray Hard”. This is what SC Miles believes, so his music career is not over! All the people scream “Stand firm and look at me now!!”.
