He graduated summa cum laude and first in his class from the Hartt School. He has recorded on the Scarlet, Elfin, Centuar and Albany record labels. He has also recorded the cello Sonata and complete chamber works of Soulima Stravinsky. Born in Rochester, N.Y., Mr. Pegis is a graduate of the Hartt School of Music and has studied with Allan Harris, Lynn Harrell, Robert Sylvester, Orlando Cole, David Finckel and David Wells. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the Concert Atlantique International Debut competition in Geneva Switzerland and first prize in the Music Teachers National Association competition. He has performed with the Emerson String Quartet and has participated in numerous festivals including the Ravinia Festival, Yellow Barn Music Festival and the Scotia Chamber Players Festival.
