This debut album from Mike Lee is an independent project that has spanned three years. The entire album was recorded using just a synthesizer and an 8-track digital recorder. Although the songs may all be electronic, various genres including jazz, hip-hop and orchestral are infused into the album. Where most electronic albums focus on rhythm and catchy beats, Night Drive Fever focuses on melody. The melodies play an important role in telling the story of each song, whether it be the aching hope of "First Step" or the sorrowful uncertainty of "Reincarnation". The album's recurring themes of self-identification, spirituality and moving on from loss are subjects best contemplated on a night drive.
