Mather & Kingdon are song writing duo Stuart Mather and Chris Kingdon whose musical tastes have been influenced by the various artists they grew up listening to.

Stuart's musical upbringing was an eclectic mix of 'easy listening', swing, Motown, classical and reggae. He gradually learnt the art of song writing through years of listening to the likes of Bob Marley, Barry White, Lionel Richie, Gamble and Huff and Earth Wind And Fire. In later times acts such as Paul Carrack, Babyface and Daft Punk were also influential.

Chris's influences were originally via his sister's love of Motown (Chartbuster albums everywhere!) then came Barry White, Earth Wind And Fire and MFSB before being introduced by his brother to the specialist soul radio shows where his taste expanded to include the jazzier side of things with such artists as Roy Ayres, Donald Bird, Lonnie Liston Smith and Ronnie Laws plus the less commercial side of soul. During this time he also played a number of musical instruments including saxophone on which he was part of the line-up along with Stuart in a local gigging band 'Solid Ground'.

Many years later and a chance meeting between the two lead to the formation of Mather & Kingdon and an opportunity to put all their influences into producing brand new music, the aim always to create a soulful groove, good lyrical content and each track having that familiar M&K feel. Having had success with a number of singles not least down to fantastic DJ support and good radio airplay the time is here to release the debut album 'Life's So Sweet on which their musical journey continues with a variety of wonderful soulful house, R&B, smooth soul and jazz tracks.
